Movin' & Shakin'

Well folks, I’d say we pretty much have our first summer under our belts! Complete with ups, downs, and as always, plenty of lessons learned. I have met amazing people from as close as Eureka, MT, and as far as Sidney, Australia. My once pristine floor boards show some wear, the bar has a few new scrapes, and my sleep schedule is looking a little haggard…. but every story told, laugh shared, connection made, repays this cost tenfold. These walls are beginning to collect memories, which means more to me than any single hour of sleep ever will.

With every month that has passed, I feel the winery becoming more and more a part of the Flathead community. A large part of this has been due to the kind and welcoming nature of the other craft alcohol producers in Kalispell. From the very first time we gathered together to discuss the future of our unique niche in the Valley (and to drink, naturally), I was overwhelmed by their support. What could have easily been a competitive and cutthroat affiliation, was instead a beautiful network of driven and business savvy people, excited to learn and grow together. Our coalition has now affectionately been dubbed “Drink Kalispell,” and our personal social media tag #drinkkalispell is gaining ground daily. I can safely say that without these wonderful people in my life, I would not have made it this far. And so, I will take this moment to shamelessly plug for my friends and colleagues. Please visit these establishments and thank them for their contribution to the positive growth of the Kalispell community:

Glacier Sun Winery

Rough Cut Cider

Bias Brewing

Kalispell Brewing Company

Sunrift Beer Company

Vilya Spirits

Whitefish Handcrafted Spirits

Dark Side Fermenters

Big Mountain Ciderworks (coming soon)

Guys, if you are reading this, you have my sincerest thanks. I owe you all a round.

Now that the nights are cooling down and the fall colors are setting in, I look forward to sipping a mug of mulled wine near a crackling fire pit. I hope you join me and add a few more memories and scuffs to this place. Each one makes it more ours. And that is something I will gladly drink too.

Sincerely,

Meredith
